MSW-ASP Admission Requirements

In addition to the requirements below, students admitted to the Advanced Standing Program must possess:

• an undergraduate degree in a social work program, which has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education;
• baccalaureate degree in social work must have been earned within five years of admission to the ASP; and
• student's cumulative GPA for social work courses taken must be at least 3.0.

  Requirements for Admissions to MSW Program: Meet requirements for admission to Graduate Study at SDSU. Hold a Bachelor's degree with a liberal arts foundation from an accredited college or university. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 units (90 quarter), but not less than a minimum of a 2.85 GPA. Submit results of the GRE Examination and TOEFL Examination (if applicable). (MSW/JD applications may substitute the LSAT Exam Score). Complete SDSU School of Social Work Application form which includes: Supplemental information, Liberal Arts Perspective Form; Personal/Professional Statement; Letters of Recommendation; Education and Experience; Application Information Certification. Volunteer, internship, and/or paid human services experience (minimum of 500 hours). Complete an undergraduate statistics course.
