
We are very excited to welcome Kirin Macapugay to the School of Social Work faculty!
Kirin is a new lecturer and an Aztec alumna. Kirin earned a Master of Social Work degree from San Diego State University with a concentration on community development and administration in 2002. She became a licensed Certified Fundraising Executive via CFRE International in 2013, granted only to those who have proven their success in strengthening organizational revenues as well as successful completion of the rigorous CFRE application and exam. This Spring Kirin is teaching SW483B, Generalist Practice.
Kirin Macapugay stays busy as the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Operation Samahan Community Health Centers. Kirin also serves on the City of Chula Vista Cultural Arts Commission, working on her vision of “strengthening the cultural vibrancy of Chula Vista to become a widely known destination for business, tourism, and residency.” She serves on the Community Advisory Council for San Diego Gas and Electric. Kirin is also a mentor for the San Diego Leadership Alliance, and an advisor to the National Asian Pacific Women’s Forum San Diego. She served as a Commissioner for the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, appointed by a Governor Jerry Brown.
