What made you decide to enroll in the School of Social Work at SDSU?
Making a difference in someone’s life has always been a passion of mine. I have always had the desire to go into a helping profession, ever since I was a child. Even if I only reached one individual, through a smile or a kind gesture; anything I could do to uplift a person in need, would be rewarding. Enrolling in the School of Social Work was a no-brainer and I am very pleased with the decision I made.
What have been your most memorable experience in the School?
I have enjoyed getting to know the faculty, including building my relationships outside of class. It is comforting knowing that the staff is just as invested in my future as I am and will continue to support me, even after graduation.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to enroll in SDSU School of Social Work Advanced Standing Masters Program in the fall.
What are some of your favorite aspects of the program?
The School of Social Work “practice what they teach” by exemplifying the NASW core values. They uplift, motivate and encourage students both inside and outside the classroom. Many of my relationships with my fellow student and faculty will be longstanding and I am excited to see where life takes us all.
Describe why you would recommend SDSU to potential students.
My experience at SDSU has been so fulfilling. I have grown tremendously as a student and as a young black woman. I have been able to be my own individual person while still being a part of something bigger than myself. I would like to see other potential students have the same opportunity that I had.
