Biography

Dr. Keeney received her PhD from Colorado State University and her MSW from Eastern Washington University with certifications in Public Administration and School Social Work. Dr. Keeney’s dissertation research focused on how school social workers’ practice with children and families has been affected due to the prevalence and influence of electronic media.

Currently, Dr. Keeney is the Senior Research Analyst at the Social Policy Institute (SPI) and a research associate for the High Plains Intermountain Center for Agriculture Health and Safety (HICHAS). She has broad cross-disciple experience in process, research to practice, collaboration and community capacity and multi-site and multi-level evaluation. Prior to her work at the SPI, she was a program analyst for the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Her current research focuses on program evaluation, poverty simulations, agricultural health and safety of migrant workers and human rights. Her last publication focused on an international analysis of social work codes of ethics and human rights. In general, her research interests are aimed towards the pursuit of social justice by focusing on how to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals while addressing their unique social, cultural, and legal realities.

Additionally, she holds her Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Social Work for the State of California and has prior experience working as a behavioral therapist in Washington State’s public schools.

She is a past board member of Washington State’s Institutional Review Board and adjunct instructor for Colorado State University, Eastern Washington University and California State University San Marcos.
