Jessica Rathbun attended Point Loma Nazarene in 2000 with her B.A. in Therapeutic and Community Psychology and later graduated from San Diego State University in 2011 with her Masters in Social Work. She currently works as a Senior Program Manager at SAY San Diego; overseeing several juvenile delinquency prevention and intervention programs. Prior to her work at SAY San Diego she worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Consultant providing strategic planning and workforce optimization for U.S. Navy clients. Ms. Rathbun also has experience working with homeless population during her time at the YWCA as well as the co-founder of Dreams for Change’s The Fresh Food Truck. She was also the co-founder of Get Empowered Today, a small non-profit designer to work with communities to educate and empower young adults to achieve their dreams.
Ms. Rathbun’s passion is criminal justice system reform and she is an advocate for trauma-informed care in working with clients and communities. She wholeheartedly believes in the importance of building relationships with community members and partner organizations as it is through these connections and constantly taking a learner’s stance, that we are best able to come alongside and support our youth and families. Ms. Rathbun is excited to join the Field Faculty team at SDSU.
