Students are strongly encouraged to complete all prerequisite courses prior to beginning fall enrollment at SDSU. Social Work major courses are only offered once per academic year (either fall or spring terms), and you must take them in lock-step sequence because each course builds upon one another. Inability to enroll in upper-division Social Work or Gerontology courses this fall semester will delay anticipated graduation by a minimum of one year.

In addition, Gero students are required to complete Gero 310, 360, and 370 before enrolling in Gero 400A, which requires a 200 hour field practicum. Furthermore, students must contact the Field Director, Amanda Lee by February 1st (early spring) of their junior year to begin the process for acquiring an internship for Gero 400A. Students may choose a course from a list curated by CHHS. Please note: international travel is still possible to some locations for students who would still like to study abroad.
