In response to the U.S. Surgeon General’s issued public health advisory on the youth mental health crisis  our nation is facing, SDSU School of Social Work Field Faculty and PPS Coordinator Paul Brazzel spoke with the Los Angeles Times about warning signs families can watch out for in their child that may indicate the child is struggling with their mental health. Schools are natural centers of communities so they are a great place for families to go for support. Many schools have PPS credentialed professionals, like school social workers, who provide early intervention and prevention strategies in the school, work with children in small groups or individually, or can refer families to supportive community agencies in cases where more specialized treatment may be needed.
