Meet our new Field Faculty - 2020
Jessica Rathbun graduated Point Loma Nazarene in 2000 with her B.A. in Therapeutic and Community Psychology and later graduated from San Diego State University in 2011 with her Masters in Social Work. Prior to her social work career, Ms. Rathbun worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Consultant providing strategic planning and workforce optimization for U.S. Navy clients
For approximately six years, Ms. Rathbun worked at SAY San Diego as a Senior Program Manager and discovered her passion in working with people whose lives have been impacted by the criminal justice system. After years of collaborating with Probation Officers, in this role, Ms. Rathbun decided to take the leap and joined the San Diego County Probation Department and has been with the Probation Department since February 2019.
Ms. Rathbun also has experience working with the homeless population during her time at the YWCA as well as the co-founder of Dreams for Change’s The Fresh Food Truck. She was also the co-founder of Get Empowered Today, a small non-profit designer to work with communities to educate and empower young adults to achieve their dreams.
Ms. Rathbun is an advocate for trauma-informed care in working with clients and communities. She wholeheartedly believes in the importance of building relationships with community members and partner organizations as it is through these connections and constantly taking a learner’s stance, that we are best able to come alongside and support our youth and families. Ms. Rathbun is excited to return to the Field Faculty team at SDSU and will be teaching SW 489, the undergraduate field practicum course.
Sarah Scott Dooling is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist- Supervisor who works in private practice and at the Escondido Union School District. In her school-based role, Sarah provides clinical supervision and consultation to a team of 25 Social Workers. In private practice, Sarah provides long-term, growth-oriented psychotherapy and treatment planning for adults and children with anxiety, trauma, compassion fatigue, and mood disorders. In both roles, Sarah has the privilege to work with socio-culturally diverse populations. Sarah is a recognized trainer for clinicians and educators, and routinely presents professional development workshops for industry groups and associations. Ranging in topic from play therapy interventions and treatment plans to clinical supervision and compassion fatigue. Sarah will be teaching SW 489, the undergraduate field practicum course.
