The minor in social work consists of 24 units to include:
- PSY 101 – Introductory Psychology (3)
- SOC 101 – Introductory Sociology: The Study of Society (3)
- SWORK 110 – Social Work Fields of Service (3)
- SWORK 120 – Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare (3)
- SWORK 350 – Cultural Pluralism (3)
- SWORK 360 – Perspectives on Human Behavior and the Social Environment (3)
- SWORK 370 – Social Policies and Social Issues (3)
- three (3) units elected from one of the follow:
- SWORK 400 – Social Work Practice: Child Welfare (3) (Prerequisite SWORK 370)
- SWORK 410 – Social Work Practice: Family Issues (3) (Prerequisite SWORK 370)
- SWORK 430 – Alcohol and Other Drug Problems: Prevention and Intervention (3)
- SWORK 496 – Experimental Topics (1-4)
- GERO 520 – Analysis of Programs for the Aging (3)
Courses in the minor may not be counted toward the major, but may be used to satisfy preparation for the major and general education requirements, if applicable.
A minimum or six upper division units must be completed in residence at San Diego State University.
