President's Award Winner - Samantha Sidline

Samantha Sidline, a Master of Social Work student, was awarded the SDSU President's Award on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, for her oral presentation at the 2025 SDSU Student Symposium (S³), entitled "Between Violence and Resilience: Depression and Anxiety in Pregnant and Postpartum Asylum-Seekers at the U.S.-Mexico Border." As part of this recognition, Samantha was awarded $500 and will represent SDSU at the CSU Student Research Competition in April 2025, where she will be able to present her work. She has been working on this research as part of her publishable paper which Dr. Dianne Ciro is Chairing. Additional committee members include Drs. David Engstrom from the School of Social Work and Shira Goldenberg from the School of Public Health.
