September 8, 2022

April 21, 1926 – August 18, 2022

Dr. Glen Oscar Haworth was the purveyor of existential thought at SDSU where he served in many different capacities. As San Diego State College transitioned to San Diego State University, Dr. Haworth served as Associate Dean of the School of Social Work, as well as a professor of human behavior. Students flocked around him to hear his proverbial wit and sage wisdom. A native of San Diego he received his doctorate from UC Berkley where he met the love of his life Joanne Katzoff. who predeceased him. Dr. Haworth served proudly in the Navy and for many years enjoyed tennis.

Dr. Haworth spent the last ten years at Wesley Palms in San Diego where he found conversations that challenged his philosophical mind.

He is survived by his wife Joanne’s two nieces, Susan Rose Kaplan, Deb Russel, nephew Al Russel, adopted niece, Janet Taylor, and faithful student, Dr. Louise Stanger. Donations in his memory can be made to SDSU School of Social Work Hepner Hall room 119, 5500 Campanile Drive SD, CA 92182- 4119, philanthropy.sdsu.edu/GlennHaworth and sdsualumni.org/GlennHaworth.
